ORBIT Systems, Inc. represents the Midwest for the U.S. Chamber’s DREAM BIG Award

EAGAN, MN, March 22, 2010 -- ORBIT Systems, Inc. was named the regional finalist for the Midwest in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year award.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has announced the seven finalists for the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year award. ORBIT Systems, Inc. was named the finalist for the Midwest region. One of these finalists will be named the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year during America’s Small Business Summit in Washington, DC on May 17-19.

“These finalists are among the best small businesses in America. They are the nation’s doers, dreamers, and innovators. Their vision and hard work will help lift this country out of recession and create the 20 million jobs we desperately need in the next decade,” commented Thomas J. Donohue, U.S. Chamber President and CEO.

ORBIT was chosen as a regional finalist from among an impressive group of companies granted the Blue Ribbon Small Business award. This was ORBIT’s fourth consecutive year receiving the Blue Ribbon honor. Each year the U.S. Chamber of Commerce names 75 of the nation’s top businesses as Blue Ribbon winners.

“The Blue Ribbon Small Business award is about more than recognizing financially successful businesses,” states Thomas J. Donohue. “It’s about honoring those that show a commitment to their employees, sound business practices, and bettering their communities.”

Small businesses with fewer than 250 employees and gross revenues of less than $20 million in 2008 were eligible for the award. This year’s recipients were judged on their staff training and recognition, community involvement, customer service, and their business strategies and goals.

“ORBIT is truly honored to be recognized as a finalist and named among an outstanding group of small businesses,” says ORBIT’s president, Steve McFarland. “We are passionate about living out our mission ‘to be the best customer service organization in the world’ and to be recognized is incredibly rewarding. I believe our team makes all the difference, as each day they set out to find new ways to innovate, provide a better customer experience and grow our business.”

The DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year and Blue Ribbon Small Business awards coordinate with the U.S. Chamber’s “American Free Enterprise. Dream Big.” campaign. The campaign is based on the fact that 20 million jobs need to be created in the next decade to replace jobs lost in the recession and due to a changing workforce. The Chamber believes that free enterprise will lead the way in strengthening our economy and creating these jobs. The awards program honors America’s job creators and recognizes their efforts in driving the economy forward. McFarland comments, “Everyone, even the politicians, recognize that Small Businesses are the engine for job creation in America. Small businesses are the heart and soul of the free enterprise system and The Chamber’s Dream Big Campaign acknowledges the important role those businesses will play in our economic recovery.”

The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
